Crossfields Institute Level 2 Certificate in Working with Trauma

This qualification is designed for those working across the childcare sector to help them work effectively and empathetically with children and young people who have experienced trauma.

The objective of this Crossfields Institute Level 2 Award in Working with Trauma is to support your role in the workplace.

This course will help you develop your practice and equip you with the basic knowledge, understanding and skills to work effectively and empathetically with children and young people.

You will be introduced to the theoretical frameworks which underpin our understanding of working with trauma. This will include exploring the different types of trauma and their physical and psychological impact on individuals, as well as introducing strategies to support individuals who have experienced trauma.

Whether you are in education, health or social care this course will equip you with the basic knowledge, understanding and skills for working with trauma and to support you in your role. How will this course be delivered?

This will be an online course delivered via Teams over a period of 3 months. There will be 3 online taught sessions and a series of active tutorials in-between each taught session. There will be a final session in which the candidate will present a poster.

You will create a portfolio of evidence throughout your time working towards this qualification. This may include:

  • Observation of group discussion by experienced tutor/assessors
  • Materials that communicate what you have learnt – e.g. poster, leaflet etc.
  • A short presentation to the group
