At The Mulberry Bush, we recognise that building positive working relationships between staff members and the children is key to implementing effective de-escalation strategies and as a result the training will dig into what drives behaviour which challenges us and how we can best moderate and improve our responses to illicit successful outcomes. This is especially important as it is our responses to behaviours which will determine whether a tricky situation will improve or deteriorate.
Our de-escalation course is designed to empower staff and build confidence in working with behaviour which feel challenging. The course will provide staff with practical de-escalation tools and a range of strategies to foster a calm and respectful learning environment. A range of effective communication skills, aimed at diffusing conflicts and managing emotions, will also be explored.
Course Objectives:
- Enhance staff’s ability to guide students through challenging situations,
