Sarah Vaughan MBE

Sarah Vaughan is the national Behaviour Hubs Lead and Deputy Headteacher of Perryfields Primary PRU, an alternative provision primary school that serves 113 first, middle, and primary schools across South Worcestershire. Last year, Perryfields achieved its fifth consecutive ‘Outstanding’ overall judgement from Ofsted, a testament to the school’s exceptional standards. Moreover, Perryfields has been recognised as an Inclusion Quality Mark Champion School for its outstanding work on inclusion and meeting pupils’ special educational needs.

Sarah’s expertise extends to her participation in the National Behaviour Hubs Programme, where Perryfields became a Lead School due to its success in supporting mainstream, special, and alternative provisions across all age groups. Her work has taken her across the country, supporting school leaders and enhancing pupil outcomes.

Sarah collaborates with schools nationwide, fostering improvement and support which continues even after the Behaviour Hubs Programme’s official conclusion. Additionally, her extensive knowledge has led her to speak regularly at national conferences and webinars on the significance of positive relationships, inclusion, behaviour and relationships. As an advisor to the Department for Education’s national policy group, she utilises the preventative measures and systems from Perryfields to assist the DfE in developing a system of support for all mainstream schools throughout the UK.

With a specialism in Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and as a trauma-informed practitioner with exceptional knowledge of neuroscience, Sarah’s contributions to education have been recognised with an MBE in the King’s New Year’s Honours List for her services to education.
