We are incredibly proud to share the outcome of our latest Social Care Ofsted inspection, where The Mulberry Bush has been recognised as ‘good’ across all areas.
This recognition reflects the care, dedication and compassion of our whole community. Most importantly, it speaks to the real and meaningful progress being made every day by the children and young people we support.
Children’s Progress at the Heart
At the heart of the report is what matters most, the children. It highlights the positive progress they are making and the growing sense of stability in their lives.
Our staff are recognised for noticing and valuing even the smallest steps forward, understanding that progress doesn’t always follow a straight line.
Relationships are central to everything we do. Children are supported to explore their feelings, build trust and begin to understand themselves and others more deeply, experiences that are described as transformational for many.
A Safe, Supportive and Nurturing Environment
Ofsted found that children feel safe, listened to and supported, with safeguarding arrangements that are strong and effective.
Our integrated, wrap-around approach, bringing together care, education and therapy, means each child is truly understood as an individual.
Children are able to identify trusted adults, express themselves openly and begin to find healthier ways of managing their emotions.
The environment itself was also recognised as safe, well maintained and personalised, helping children feel a genuine sense of belonging.
Strong Relationships and Therapeutic Practice
The strength of relationships across Group Living and Education is a key theme throughout the report. Staff are described as attuned, skilled and deeply committed, with a real understanding of each child’s experiences.
Through reflection, communication and therapeutic thinking, staff are able to respond with empathy and consistency, especially during moments of distress, helping children feel contained, understood and not alone in what they are experiencing.
Leadership, Teamwork and Continuous Development
Leaders and managers were rated ‘good’, with Ofsted recognising their open, reflective and transparent approach.
There is a clear commitment to growth, not just for the charity, but for every member of staff. A strong culture of togetherness and reflective practice sits alongside access to high-quality training and development.
This means staff feel supported, confident and better equipped to meet the increasingly complex needs of the children they care for.
Looking Ahead with Pride
This report reflects something we see every day, the strength, resilience and commitment of our community.
We are proud to provide a place where children can feel safe, valued and understood, and where staff feel supported to do this vital work with care and confidence.
This outcome is a testament to everyone involved, our staff, partners and wider community. We remain committed to continuing this journey and transforming lives, together.
