Every Tuesday the Thames children are taken out to give them an experience in the outdoors. It was felt that by the time the children have reached Themes they have also outgrown forest school. P.A.W.S was set up to give them a wider and more varied experience. Having nearly the whole day with them enables us to go further afield and do some great stuff in areas that they most certainly haven’t been to before and to do things they have never done before.
Over the next few months they will climb Pen-y-Fan, track animals, build camps, discover beaches in Oxfordshire, read maps, visit the Forest of Dean, go on an obstacle course and much more.
A lot of this is outside the children’s comfort zone and the adults do some interesting work with them in getting over mental and physical challenges that they might face during the day.
