UntitledDistillery Farm in conjunction with Opera A La Carte presents Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini

 Friday 13th and Saturday 14th June 2014

Set in the early C20th Madama Butterfly is the heart wrenching exotic tale of Pinkerton, an American naval officer, arranging through a marriage broker to take a bride (Butterfly) while stationed in Japan. During the romance the themes of honour, duty and shame are interwoven in Puccini’s rich score which combines Eastern and Western melodies to portray the jarring and tragic collision of the two cultures, resulting in a fatal decision between life with dishonour or death with dignity.
