On mid-summer’s day the Friends of the Mulberry Bush gave a delicious buffet lunch in a charming tent in Penelope Glen, the High Sheriff’s garden just outside Oxford. Charles Moore, the authorised biographer of Baroness Thatcher very kindly travelled from Kent to entertain us with a very witty and illuminating talk. R.R. Alden donated two salmon and Rectory Farm donated strawberries for us all to eat. The Spectator and The Week each donated a year’s subscription and Eythrope garden donated wonderful fruit, vegetables and pelargonium as raffle prizes. Many thanks to Penelope and Robert Glen for so kindly offering us the use of their lovely tent and grounds and to the Friends of the Mulberry Bush who worked so hard to raise just under £6,000.
