John Diamond  joined the staff group of an Anglo-Italian application of the Group Relations Conference model entitled ‘Learning from Action.’

The conference was originally designed by Bob Hinshelwood and Enrico Pedriali, and the task is for delegates to explore and study the value of work and daily life as a form of communication within a temporary learning community.  The conference took place on October 22- 26th near Milan, and was attended by Italian and British delegates from a range of therapeutic environments who work with severely emotionally troubled adults and young people. The conference provides a method of exploring how people take up and negotiate roles within the ‘close in’ working relationships that make up the lived experience of residential work.
