On the 1st July this year we are having our first family weekend. We have invited four of our families to stay with their children at the school for two nights and take part in group activities. There will be parenting meetings where the parents will be working with two of our staff, sharing and discussing some of the challenges of being a parent. The children will be provided with activities during these times – there will also be opportunities for families to do activities together alongside our therapeutic care workers.

Everyone will be able to have a chance to try out drum circles, forest schools and singing around an open fire. The aim of the weekend is to establish relationships with the whole family and to start to work with some of the things which families find tricky.

We hope that this will be the beginning of more sustained work alongside children and their parents and if successful we will be offering it to more families in the future.
