We are acutely aware of the pressures of being a senior leader in a special or AP setting. We know how little support there is for leaders, their advancement, continued work satisfaction and well-being. Our new network will provide a mix of support, networking opportunities, leadership training and up to date research information. There will be a strong emphasis on developing your coaching skills and using these with colleagues in the network.
Our course tutors already run several courses for special school and AP leaders. The success of our School Improvement Partner course and Nurturing New Headship course, indicates a desire by senior leaders to engage with further learning and meet with other likeminded professionals.
Face to face days
The focus of these days will be on reflection, recharging, leadership and research learning, developing coaching skills and building a network. We will create a safe space where leaders can talk openly and honestly about their work. At the start and end of each day you will be part of a triad coaching group, facilitated by an experienced School Improvement Partner. This will create a forum for personal/professional reflection and support. There will be a session on current leadership knowledge, and another on relevant educational research. A third session will promote collaborative support around an area of concern from one school’s practice. Our chef will provide a high quality lunch.
Virtual Meetings
There will be 3 virtual meetings each year. These will be between 60 to 90 minutes long. These will consist of the same triads from the face to face days, led by the same facilitator. These will provide an ongoing opportunity for reflection, providing and receiving support, and joint problem solving.
Each year there will be 3 face to face days, one per main school term. There will also be 3 virtual sessions, 1 between each of the face to face days.
