On Friday 26th August, local Standlake resident, Celina Viner, will depart from the Thames Barrier and run continuously along the Thames footpath until she reaches her destination – the Swan Hotel at Streately, Berkshire, 100 miles upstream.
She will be participating in the T100 event which sees 100 runners covering 100 miles. Having already participated in the London Marathon earlier this year to raise funds for the Mulberry Bush School, Celina wanted to continue her fundraising efforts.
She visited the school with a fellow local runner and fundraiser in the spring to see what the money raised would be put towards. The Shifford Room is, at the moment, a very uninspiring space (see below!) which is used for a number of reasons including time out and reward.
Exciting plans are in place to give it a make over and install ambient lighting, tactile wall and floor coverings and comfy furniture. Celina has set a target of £1000 to raise to help contribute towards this refurbishment.
If you would like to contribute please do visit her fundraising page.
